Wacom Tablet - Great for Doodles

Doodle Away on Your Sales Pages

If you’ve read my guide then you know I’m a fan of using “doodles” and other callouts on sales materials to increase response and get visitors to actually READ what it is you’re presenting them.

Most people wonder how to go about doing this. I’ve seen it suggested that you could, for example, create your doodles on paper and then scan them in. I think this is way too involved and doesn’t allow for easy adjustment of your work.

I prefer using a digital tablet. Just a few years back these things were still fairly pricey, but now there are affordable options.

The Wacom Bamboo tablet is one of these. I purchased one for my brother and I think it’s a great little unit for creating doodles as well as using for online screencasts. The main benefit is it’s really affordable and its resolution is more than capable for most anyone. I have a much more expensive model and really, I couldn’t tell much of a difference at all.

The other problem with using tablets to create site doodles is that there is really not any affordable software (like Photoshop) out there that works well. The Bamboo tablet comes with Corel Painter Essentials FREE which is perfect for this. So basically, for the price of the tablet you are also getting the software necessary to create your artwork as well.

You can grab a Bamboo for yourself here.

Hey Luke,

Great article on Bamboo! I've been using it for my graphic tasks for about 3 months now, and I think it's a wise investment, if you design your own graphics for your website.
